The Environmental Defense Initiative (NPO)

Chief Technology Officer

As CTO at TEDI, I lead the organization's IT infrastructure and built its Next.js platform from scratch — a custom blog uploader, a member-exclusive portal, and a petition tracking system — while using data-driven SEO to scale our reach to thousands of unique users worldwide.

Next.js · TypeScript · TailwindCSS · SEO · Open Source

The Environmental Defense Initiative (TEDI) is a nonprofit organization working to advance environmental policy and public awareness. As Chief Technology Officer, I am responsible for the organization's entire technology infrastructure — from the public-facing website to internal tooling used by our team and contributors. The role requires balancing the typical constraints of nonprofit work (limited budget, volunteer contributors) with the need for reliable, maintainable software.

The platform is built on Next.js, TypeScript, and TailwindCSS, deployed on Vercel. Beyond the public site, I built a proprietary blog uploader that lets non-technical staff publish without touching code, a member-exclusive portal, and a petition tracking system, and applied data-driven SEO optimization that scaled our organic reach to thousands of unique users worldwide.

One of my proudest contributions has been open-sourcing the technical infrastructure we built. Other similar environmental and advocacy organizations can now fork the codebase and adapt it for their own needs without starting from zero.

Right now I'm adding read counts to blog posts and doing a broader pass on load-time optimization across the site.
